Congratulations to Sir James Fraser Stoddart for his Nobel Prize in Chemistry
2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Sir James Fraser Stoddart for his work on rotazanes and catenanes towards the discovery of molecular machines. He participated with us as a principle investigator in one of our QNRF projects on covalent organic frameworks.

2016 Teaching and Research Award
Prof. Atilhan is honored with Best Teaching & Research Award by Prof. Khalifa Khalifa (Dean of College of Engineering, Qatar University) for the achievements in both teaching and research in academic year 2015-2016. Award was presented by during the College of Engineering end of the year event on June 16, 2016.

Elsevier Scopus Award
Prof. Atilhan is honored with Elsevier-Scopus Award (Best Researcher of the Year) for achievements in Natural Sciences category in Spring 2015. Award was presented by the President of Qatar University H.E. Prof. Sheikha Abdullah Al-Misnad and Vice President Elsevier Charles Pallandt.

All-Time Greats and Contemporary Favorites
Our article “Thermophysical Properties of Pure Ionic Liquids: Review of Present Situation”3rd most cited article in the last 5 years in I&ECR is included in I&ECR’s first-ever virtual special issue called as Most-Cited Papers: All-Time Greats and Contemporary Favorites.

Exceptional NPRP Proposal
Dr. Mert Atilhan (PI) and his collaborating team (TAMUQ, Northwestern and TOTAL) have been awarded exceptional research fund of $4.5M from the Qatar National Research Fund as part of Exceptional National Priorities Research Fund program with the proposal entitled ‘Design of Novel Catalysts and Processes for Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Conversion from Micro- to Macroscale’.
